PFOA, aka Perfluorooctanoic Acid

is a chemical used to make Teflon, Gore-Tex and stain-resistant coatings...AND is a "likely carcinogen". This crap is used on non-stick pans, and is also found in widely used coatings that make upholstery and clothing stain-resistant and in a grease-resistant coating on microwave popcorn and fast-food packaging among other things.
Tests by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found PFOA in the blood of 95% of Americans, though researchers don't yet know how it's getting there.
( I'm gonna take a wild guess and say we're ingesting it through our skin or from what we cook that goes into our mouths.)

It can also kill parrots when the non-stick pans are heated to a too high of temperature.
So why the hell do people still use this shit?
Most use it cause it's easy..easy to clean..stuff doesn't stick so you can be a shitty-ass cook and still manage to scrape something outta the pan you fuck up. Others use it cause they just don't know any better....and it's usually cheap....Especially when compared to Stainless Steel or Cast Iron cookware.
I personally detest the non-stick crap..it wears off way to fast as well as the health risks involved.

So next time ya buy cookware, buy something that will last with much less potential to kill ya.

Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty

This is one of the three kittens the stray cat had.
He's a cutie. His big ol' blue eyes make me think of Frank Sinatra...so he's taken on the Frankie/Frank name at times I call him by a name and not just baby kitty.
